BMCC Rodeo Team Coach

The knowledge Coach Campbell brings to the rodeo program at BMCC combined with a practice schedule, which includes practice cattle and goats for the timed events as well as horses and bulls for the rough stock cowboys, is second to none. The BMCC rodeo team practices year round at outdoor facilities in the fall and spring and an indoor building in the winter.

COACH TYGH CAMPBELL
Blue Mountain Community College head rodeo coach Tygh Campbell started out his college rodeo career as an athlete at Walla Walla Community College where he competed in all of the timed events. As a standout steer wrestler, Tygh earned himself a trip to the College National Finals Rodeo where he placed third in the Nation in 1996. Tygh then returned to school in the Fall of 1999 at Blue Mountain Community College where he received his Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer degree while on a rodeo scholarship. Coach Campbell then transferred to Eastern Oregon University where, on an academic scholarship, he received a Bachelors degree in Liberal Studies and severed as the EOU assistant rodeo coach. Tygh came on board with the BMCC rodeo program in the winter of 2004 as the assistant rodeo coach under long time coach Larry Patterson. Tygh is well versed in most timed events and competes at the professional level in the steer roping and in the past steer wrestling before a knee injury cut his career short. Coach Campbell also serves as an adjunct instructor at BMCC as well as working as a full time horseshoer.
