A.A.S./Diesel Technology

Welcome to BMCC's Diesel Technology Program. This two-year program leads to an Associate of Applied Science Degree, and is designed to prepare graduates to meet job entry requirements for a variety of jobs in the the field. The curriculum provides classroom work and practical experience in the lab. In addition to heavy truck training, this program offers training in agricultural and heavy equipment.

There will be no tuition charged for this grant-funded program through December 2009.

 

 

 

This program will prepare graduates with the necessary skills and knowledge to enter the heavy duty diesel engine powered equipment repair industry with the following capabilities:

Service, diagnose and repair diesel engines
Service and repair suspension and steering
Service and repair air conditioning systems
Service and replace brakes
Diagnose and repair electrical/electronic systems
Safe shop practices
Written and oral communication skills in dealing with customer service and report writing
Ability to use math in problem solving
Ability to effectively use the computer to find information, create documents and send correspondence
Understand and service basic hydraulic systems
Ability to perform basic arc and oxy-acetylene welding
Become DOT certified airbrake inspectors/adjusters
