Student Profile - Kristin Fitzgerald

"After graduating from Hermiston High School in 1993, I began my college education,” says Kristin Fritzgerald. “Two years later I got married and started the most important thing to me, a family. I put my education on hold to stay home with my daughter. In 2000 I was divorced and back in the workforce. After five years of working in Portland I chose to improve my prospects for a successful future by finishing my education. I returned home to Hermiston and started the BMCC nursing program in 2006. During the past two years my daughter, Alyssa, has spent many nights and weekends competing against textbooks for my time. I am now months away from graduation and receiving my RN license. I am grateful for the education I have received and that my daughter has been able to see how I value education. I look forward to a lifetime of learning.”

Kristin was nominated to be an Oregon Community College Association Scholar because of her grade point average and exceptional performance in the BMCC nursing program.
