BMCC Sees Growth in Student Enrollment

Last Updated on November 1, 2023 by

(Pendleton, OR) – Enrollment at Blue Mountain Community College is up significantly for the first time since the pandemic. Data reported at the fourth week of the term shows an overall increase of 19 percent in student enrollment compared to Fall Term 2022. This is the 4th consecutive term of enrollment growth and the 3rd continual year building off a 2.5 percent increase in 2021-22 and a 3 percent increase in 2022-23.

The college is also reporting an 18.5 percent full-time equivalent (FTE) student increase compared to Fall Term 2022 and an overall 24 percent increase year-to-date in FTE students. The full-time equivalent student measurement (FTE) is used to determine state funding.

“It’s great,” said BMCC President Dr. Mark Browning. “I’m thrilled that one, more students are realizing what an excellent education they can receive here, and two- the energy brought by these students on campus is inspiring! We invite everyone to come see that is happening here at BMCC!”

Resources to ensure student success are a mainstay strategy of Blue Mountain Community College. From early intervention regarding food insecurity to affordability and increased individual attention, BMCC provides an educational environment that is students first. Students of BMCC have access to online teletherapy through BetterMynd, where they can experience personalized care and extended hours from the privacy of their phone or computer. In addition to already robust financial aid opportunities, The BMCC Foundation offers an emergency assistance program, available for students to apply at any time throughout the academic year to reduce unplanned financial burdens that can jeopardize a student’s ability to commit to their education. Due to generous local donors, a wide variety of need-based and merit-based scholarships are available through the BMCC Foundation as well.

BMCC has emphasized outreach and community activities to connect with potential students and create connections to the communities within the BMCC District.
