BMCC Foundation Scholarship Information and Award Process

The BMCC Foundation’s list of scholarships is growing! Because of generous donors who care about the success of our students, the Foundation is able to offer more awards at increased amounts each year.

Scholarships are a great way for degree and credit seeking students to help pay for their education and unlike loans they do not have to be repaid. Hundreds of scholarship awards are available to qualified students who meet specific criteria decided by the private donor(s). Some of these criteria could be the area of study, academic record, volunteer service, participation in athletics, artistic talent, area of residence, or financial need.

Most scholarships awarded are based on financial need and the student’s potential as reflected in the answers provided on their application. Each student is scored by an unbiased review group.

Scores are given in these areas:

Financial need is decided by using the information provided when a student completes the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or ORSAA (Oregon Student Aid Application). Applicants also can explain their financial needs in greater detail by completing the financial essay question on the application.

Academic achievement/GPA is reflected in high school transcripts, college transcripts, or GED scores.

Accomplishments and merit are shown through letters of recommendation.

Four Essay questions give the student a chance to express in greater detail not only their financial need but other accomplishments, as well.

  • What are your specific educational plans and career goals?
  • Describe your financial need.
  • Describe volunteer, school, community service, or work experience you’ve been been a part of.
  • Share a challenging experience you have had.

Only students who have completed the free admissions process at BMCC will be able to access the Foundation Scholarship application. A BMCC student ID number and student email address are needed to apply.

It’s faithful donors that financially support the Foundation’s scholarship program, that allows us to provide thousands of dollars in scholarship awards each year. By filling out one application students gain access to all the Foundation scholarships, which are available through 2 award cycles.  We are incredibly grateful to our many donors who make this possible.

Getting by while in college can be a challenge, and sometimes an unexpected expense comes up that you can’t avoid.  That’s where these emergency funds come in.

These limited funds are intended to assist students in emergency situations.

How to determine if it is an emergency

  • It is unanticipated in nature or the result of another unanticipated expense and not the result of poor planning.
  • It is not recurring by nature.

If you are experiencing an unforeseen financial emergency, please complete the Emergency Assistance Application.

You can find the application through your WolfWeb Student Portal. Once you have signed in, click on the BMCC Foundation tab then click the Emergency Assistance Dashboard
