Course Description:
A public speaking course with the target audience being working professionals, specifically in the non-profit sector. Our work depends on communication — in meetings, in collabo-ration, in advocacy, in support of one another. Speaking clearly and confidently is a skill anyone can learn. This workshop offers practical tools and shared practice to help us express our ideas and values in ways that build trust and connection. We will focus on presentation skills for community outreach events, meeting with investors, and customers.

This high-energy course introduces students to the fundamentals of line dancing through steady repetition, guided practice, and step-by-step instruction. Participants learn classic and contemporary line dances, build rhythm and coordination, and develop confidence through a lot of focused practice each session. No partner required—just comfortable shoes, enthusiasm, and a willingness to move.

  • This training will consist of tours to four local museums to learn about the history of Grant County. Each day will include guided visits at two museums. Museums included are: Kam Wah Chung, Ranch and Rodeo, DeWitt, and Grant County Historical Museum. Transportation and lunch will be provided.

In this course, participants will learn the science, skills, and methods of home canning according to the guidelines of the National Center for Home Food Preservation. We will learn the necessary tools and techniques, as well as how to identify safe canning recipes, and break down the costs of this hobby. This accelerated course prepares students to qualify for the Oregon Real Estate Broker’s License exam in just 10 weeks. It is a hybrid course combining once-a-week lecture with online home study to meet the 150 hours requirements of the Oregon Real Estate Agency. In this workshop, participants will learn the skills to pass required CDL Knowledge exams to obtain a commercial learners permit. They will also obtain a commercial drivers license in the state of Oregon. Students will gain practical skills in on road maneuvers, range maneuvers, basic standard vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance.

This training provides new and incoming Board members with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to serve effectively. Participants will gain a clear understanding of Board roles and responsibilities, legal and ethical duties, organizational governance structures, financial oversight, strategic planning, and how to engage in mission-driven decision-making. This course is designed to provide experienced forklift operators with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to deliver effective initial and refresher training to your employees. It stresses the practical application of safe operating principles, load characteristics, and workplace hazards. The curriculum reflects all the training requirements listed in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178.

Course Description:
This advanced certification course prepares experienced CPR providers to become certified American Heart Association instructors in CPR, AED, and Basic Life Support. Participants learn how to teach AHA-aligned curriculum, evaluate learner performance, run skills-based scenarios, and deliver high-quality life-saving instruction with confidence and professionalism. Upon completion, trainees are equipped to lead CPR/AED/BLS courses in community, workplace, and clinical settings while upholding the highest standards of the American Heart Association.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognized training program that teaches people how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges. It’s similar to CPR, but for mental health crises.

The training covers a range of topics, including depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, and addiction.
It includes information on risk factors, warning signs, and a practical action plan to guide participants in offering support.

This workshop will cover educational leadership and management in a Community College setting. It will also look at organized labor (CBAs), budgets and supervisory training. For BMCC staff only.

In this workshop, participants will learn the skills to pass required CDL Knowledge exams to obtain a commercial learners permit. They will also obtain a commercial drivers license in the state of Oregon. Students will gain practical skills in on road maneuvers, range maneuvers, basic standard vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance.

Note:

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age
  2. Must complete the Student Application Form
  3. Must have had a driving record for five (5) years
  4. Must have a valid driver’s license
  5. Must pass the Department of Transportation physical and drug screen.
  6. Must have high school diploma or equivalent, or pass ability to benefit test
  7. Free ability to benefit testing offered at the Oregon Employment Department.
