Scholarship Golf Tournament

On May 29th, the BMCC Foundation hosted its annual golf tournament fundraiser at Birch Creek Golf Course in Pendleton.  The day included 18 holes of golf and a few bonus games along the way, with golfers getting swag packs and a delicious lunch. The luncheon also featured a raffle of dozens of generously donated gift baskets and prizes from area businesses, followed by an awards ceremony for tournament winners.
The tournament, now known as the Alumni Scramble, netted over $11,000 for BMCC student scholarships. Thank you to all the sponsors, donors, and participants who made this event a success. See you next year on the links!

Alumni Association Scholarship

Did you know the BMCC Alumni Association offers a student scholarship? Currently, the Association awards one $1,000 scholarship per year, but our goal is to endow the scholarship to support multiple students in their academic endeavors. Giving to the Alumni Association Scholarship helps students fulfill their academic goals and pursue careers that will enable them to thrive in and give back to our Eastern Oregon community and beyond. Please consider clicking on the GIVE button at the top of the page and donating to help us support future Timberwolves!

Alumni Spotlight: Mike Hawman

When you think of international cover models, a farmer in a ballcap and boots might not be your first thought. However, when that farmer is BMCC alumnus Mike Hawman and the cover is for an agricultural publication from the Netherlands, it all makes perfect sense. Mike, the owner of Riverview Seed and Hawman Farms, has made a significant impact on agriculture on a global scale, becoming somewhat of a celebrity in the field. The technological advances he and his contemporaries use in seed cleaning and cultivation are admired worldwide, with many looking to Hawman’s practices to shape the future of agriculture.
Through his success, Mike has remained a champion of BMCC and its programs, particularly the agriculture department. Through the efforts of Mike and his son Kevin, modern pivot irrigation systems were outfitted on the fields of our campus FARM facility. Mike is also supporting the Pack as the vice chairman of our Alumni Association. As we expand the association, Mike provides a guiding light of leadership. Along with our alumni association board, he is working to bring loyal Timberwolf alumni into the fold and to create a thriving network that has a presence at area events, provides outreach to current and future Timberwolves, and supports BMCC programs. Thank you to Mike for his enthusiasm and for believing in higher education at BMCC!
