Blue Mountain Community College Staff and Faculty Lead Volunteer Effort Across Region

On April 26th, Blue Mountain Community College (BMCC) showcased its unwavering commitment to community service as staff and faculty members from various departments dedicated their afternoon to volunteering across the region. This coordinated effort saw participants engaging with a diverse range of organizations, spanning from animal shelters to art centers, parks, senior citizen centers, trail clearing and more.

The volunteers delved into a multitude of activities, reflecting their versatility and dedication to making a positive impact. Tasks included but were not limited to:

  • PAWS: Animal shelter clean-up and support
  • Pendleton Parks & Rec: Community cleanup and park/cemetery maintenance
  • Pendleton Center of the Arts: Assisting with art exhibits and activities
  • Salvation Army Thrift Store: Organizing and aiding in thrift store operations
  • Heritage Museum: Contributing to historical preservation efforts
  • Martha’s House: Cleaning and restocking of goods
  • Crossroads Carnegie Art Center: Assisting with art projects and events
  • Pendleton Adventure Trails: Trail clearing and maintenance
  • Pendleton Bird Club: Engaging in conservation and educational activities and creating a bird database
  • City of Boardman/Milton Freewater: Community clean up
  • Lead Educate & Serve Society: Various community service initiatives
  • Senior Citizen Centers: Offering assistance and companionship to seniors

BMCC’s volunteers demonstrated a remarkable spirit of service, embodying the college’s ethos of community engagement and collaboration. Their efforts not only beautified and enhanced local spaces but also fostered connections and relationships that are vital for a thriving community.
