Blue Mountain Community College Students Shine at 2024 All-Oregon Academic Team Luncheon

Heppner’s Chad Doherty and Umatilla’s Matthew Millhaem, students of Blue Mountain Community College, have proudly earned their spots among the prestigious 55 members selected for the Oregon Community College Association’s 2024 All-Oregon Academic Team. Their remarkable achievements in academics, leadership, and community service have been recognized and celebrated at the recent luncheon held at Chemeketa Community College in Salem.

President Mark Browning, representing Blue Mountain Community College, was in attendance at the luncheon to congratulate and support these outstanding scholars. Doherty, also honored with the opportunity to speak at the event, showcased the depth of talent and dedication found within BMCC’s student body. “Chad and Matthew represent the best of the very best,” said Browning. “Of more than 179,000 community college students in the state, these two have risen above and are an amazing example of the student body here at BMCC.

The keynote speaker, Rep. Tawna Sanchez of Portland, delivered an inspiring address, further motivating students like Doherty and Millhaem to continue their pursuit of excellence and contribution to their communities.

Blue Mountain Community College takes immense pride in the accomplishments of its students and continues to foster an environment of academic excellence, leadership development, and community engagement.
