This fall, Blue Mountain Community College is setting the table a little earlier—and a little differently.
For years, BMCC has hosted a traditional Holiday Dinner in December, offering a warm meal to students and community members alike. But this year, the college is reimagining the experience. With a fresh feel and a big heart, BMCC is proud to present its Community Turkey Dinner, happening Wednesday, November 20 from 5 to 7 PM in the BMCC Student Union.
The name has changed, the date has moved up, but the heart behind the event remains the same: good food, generous people, and that unmistakable sense of small-town connection. This year’s theme says it all: Homestyle Food. Hometown Warmth.
Guests can expect a cozy, come-as-you-are atmosphere complete with a full Thanksgiving-style dinner. And for the first time, the meal will be catered by BMCC’s new kitchen hosts, the Sweet and Sourdough Co.—a local duo known for their soul-filling comfort food and made-from-scratch magic. Their menu promises all the seasonal favorites that bring people back to the table: roasted turkey, savory sides, warm sourdough rolls, and slices of pie that taste like they came straight from grandma’s kitchen.
The Community Turkey Dinner is free and open to everyone, thanks to the generosity of local donors and the behind-the-scenes work of BMCC’s Associated Student Government. That generosity also extends beyond the Student Union—free meal delivery is available for anyone within Pendleton city limits who cannot attend in person, just make sure to register before the event. And thanks to a new partnership with Pendleton High School teachers and BMCC volunteers, deliveries will be made with a warm meal and a smile between 5 and 7 PM on the day of the event.
While the dinner is free, BMCC is inviting the community to support the cause by “Setting Another Place at the Table.” This donation campaign allows anyone to give in a way that directly supports the dinner—from funding a single delivered meal to sponsoring a full table for the night. Giving levels start at just $25 and come with creative titles like Travelin’ Turkey, Gravy Train, and Heart of the Harvest—a nod to the flavors and feelings of the season. Every gift helps keep the event free and ensures there’s always room for one more. Sponsorship details and links to donate can be found at bluecc.edu/turkeydinner.
And of course, it wouldn’t be a community dinner without a community effort. Volunteers are needed in the days leading up to the event and throughout the evening. Whether you’re available to prep veggies, string lights, serve plates, or deliver meals—there’s a way to be involved. Visit the website to learn more about volunteer opportunities and to sign up.
There’s something about sharing a warm meal that brings people together—and BMCC is leaning into that feeling with open arms and open seats. If you’re looking for a moment of connection, a chance to give, or just a really good piece of pie, you’ll find it here.
