Pendleton, OR – Blue Mountain Community College (BMCC) is proud to announce that Dr. Velda Arnaud, has been named the Oregon ACTE 2026 Post-Secondary Professional of the Year. This prestigious recognition celebrates Dr. Arnaud’s outstanding contributions to Career and Technical Education (CTE), her commitment to student success, and her leadership in business education.
Arnaud will be formally honored at the Oregon ACTE Conference in Seaside in April 2025, where she will receive the award among fellow educators, administrators, and industry leaders.
A Champion for Career and Technical Education
With a career devoted to business education, leadership development, and workforce preparation, Arnaud has been instrumental in advancing CTE at BMCC. She has worked tirelessly to bridge the gap between education and industry, ensuring students are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in today’s evolving workforce.
“I am honored to receive this recognition from Oregon ACTE,” said Arnaud. “CTE plays a vital role in preparing students for meaningful careers, and I am passionate about ensuring they have access to the best education, resources, and opportunities. This award is a reflection of the collective efforts of our faculty, high school teachers, students, and industry partners at BMCC.”

Her dedication extends beyond the classroom, as she has played a key role in supporting businesses and students through economic challenges, particularly during the pandemic. Her leadership has strengthened industry-education partnerships, contributing to workforce resilience across Eastern Oregon.

As a mentor and advocate for professional development, Arnaud collaborates with high school educators to advance CTE initiatives, inspiring innovation in teaching and career readiness. She has served on BMCC’s Business Advisory Board and the Pendleton Chamber Board, strengthening partnerships that benefit both students and local businesses.
