Degrees & Certificates

Computer Science and the technology it supports is a necessity in every industry in our communities, from retail and the food industries to the medical and agriculture industries. Every business requires technology to function. So, a degree in computer science makes sense even if you aren’t completely sure about which industry you would like to work in. Associate of Science Oregon Transfer/Computer Science (ASOT/CS) degree will prepare students to transfer to an Oregon public university.

Associate of Science Oregon Transfer Degree

This 12-credit-hour certificate of completion provides a year-long introduction to concepts, tools, and techniques used in software development. Students successfully completing the certificate will have the knowledge to pursue a potential AAS in Computer Science, a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, or an internship/apprenticeship at an organization providing on-the-job training in the field.

Certificate of Completion

Today’s data centers contain tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of computer servers linked by powerful networks. A Data Center Technician installs, maintains, and repairs a data center’s computer and network systems. Many of the largest technology employers in the country are hiring Data Center Technicians right here in this region.

BMCC developed the one-year Data Center Technician certificate in partnership with local employers. Students completing this one-year certificate are fully prepared for employment in this rapidly-growing industry.

The job outlook for data center technicians is very strong. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that employment of network and computer systems administrators will grow 8% from 2020 to 2030, faster than the average for all occupations. This growth is being driven by the increasing demand for data storage and processing power, as well as the growing popularity of cloud computing.

The program covers a wide range of topics, including:

  • Data center infrastructure: Students learn about the hardware and software that make up a data center, including servers, storage devices, and networking equipment.
  • Data center operations: Students learn about the day-to-day operations of a data center, including monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Data center security: Students learn about the security threats that data centers face and how to protect them.
  • Cloud computing: Students learn about the basics of cloud computing and how it is used in data centers.

Certificate of Completion

Pursue a degree in Industrial Systems Technology where you will develop hands-on skills to problem solve comprehensively by troubleshooting, analyzing data, repairing systems, seeking efficiency, and industrial sustainability.

Associate of Applied Science Degree

This two-year program leading to an A.A.S. degree in Precision Agriculture will provide students with a multidisciplinary background in agricultural production, technology, and farm management. Students may specialize in one of three areas: irrigation maintenance, data analyst, or farm manager.

The job outlook for precision agriculture is very strong. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that employment of agricultural and food scientists will grow 8% from 2020 to 2030, faster than the average for all occupations. This growth is being driven by the increasing demand for food and agricultural products, as well as the growing use of precision agriculture technologies.
